Recalls are complex scenarios that do not always have to be associated with high costs if companies are well prepared. In an interview with IBF, Dr Carsten Schucht from the Produktkanzlei law firm explained the challenges to be considered in product recalls and how manufacturers can best prepare for them.

The new Machinery Regulation and other product safety regulations oblige manufacturers to carry out statutory product monitoring or, in a broader sense, ‘after-market obligations’. Harmonised standards should be in place by the time the Machinery Regulation comes into force. According to the currently valid Machinery Directive, there are more than 800 such standards in the corresponding EU Official Journal.
